About
As a pioneering investment firm, Goodwell believes in creating a more inclusive society. That’s why we finance motivated entrepreneurs solving everyday issues within their communities.
About Goodwell Investments
Investing in a better future
Goodwell has worked to improve access to high-quality essentials for underserved populations since 2006 – first in India, and now in Africa. By investing in scalable, early-growth stage companies in financial services, food and agriculture, mobility and logistics, and other high impact sectors, we’re enabling a more inclusive world, investment by investment.
Local expertise for maximum impact
Local entrepreneurs and SMEs have the power to make significant impact within their communities: they understand what’s needed, and where challenges may lie. Goodwell’s locally led approach maximises their impact potential and sets them up for success by providing access to growth capital and support for strategy, planning, fundraising, governance, and reporting.
On-the-ground partnerships
In addition to our offices in Kenya and South Africa, Goodwell works closely with Alitheia Capital in Nigeria to oversee investments in West Africa. Led by ‘Tokunboh Ishmael, we share a commitment to nurturing entrepreneurs through both financial and non-financial support. Our joint investment structure helps Goodwell build a fast-growing and impactful portfolio.
Our investment focus

Emerging innovations in Africa
Africa is entering an exciting phase of development, leveraging new technologies, rapid urbanisation and the energy of an extremely youthful population to solve local problems with innovative homegrown ideas. We invest in entrepreneurs who use their skills and experience not to replace existing systems and infrastructure, but to create solutions where there are none, creating impact in their immediate communities as well as the wider ecosystems in which they work.

Essential goods and services
Goodwell invests in companies that bring accessible, affordable, high-quality goods and services to underserved people and communities. By focusing on necessities like food and agriculture, mobility and logistics, basic financial services and waste management, we’re not only contributing to an inclusive economy; serving this population also provides growth opportunities that are resilience to both market and geo-political shocks.

Collaborative approach
We work side-by-side with the companies we invest in. That means sharing expertise, offering access to our wider network, and delivering practical business support. It also means building lasting relationships: our teams ensure a long runway through multiple follow-on rounds and help secure further growth capital.

Social and financial returns
Goodwell’s investments deliver proven social, economic and environmental impacts, while also offering competitive returns to our investors. With a commitment to gender inclusion and climate resilience, our portfolio companies have reached 39 million households in 68 countries, delivering necessities like food, financial services, and safe transport.
“African economies and specifically inclusive businesses that provide essential products are highly resilient and continue to grow, contrary to global developments. Because crisis or not, unmet demand for basic goods and services on the continent will rise for an ever-growing group of underserved users”.

Being recognised for our work is always an honour.
