Els Boerhof is a Managing Partner at Goodwell Investments.
Having joined in 2008, Els managers the uMunthu Fund, serves as a Board member and Investment Committee member of Aavishkaar Goodwell Microfinance Development Company I and II in India and Goodwell West Africa Microfinance Development Company, and is member of the Supervisory Board of Portfolio company, Musoni.
Prior to co-founding Goodwell Investments, Els managed the EUR 300 million Micro & Small Enterprise Fund ‘MASSIF’ of the Dutch Development Bank FMO, which had invested in over 150 financial institutions serving un(der)served communities in over 40 countries. She has also served as on the Board of Directors at Women’s World banking Ghana and CreditAccess Asia, was non-executive board member of Accion Investments in Microfinance (USA) and a member of the founding work group of the Principles for Investors in Inclusive Finance.
Els has been active in frontier and developing markets since 1995, gaining deep experience in equity investments, microfinance, cross border finance and—more recently—sustainable investing and social performance management.
Els’s educational background includes a Master’s Degree in Development Economics from the University of Tilburg.
